Government Official Confirms MoD Investigating Security Risk from Chinese Cars, as Personnel Instructed to Avoid Secret Talk in Vehicles.

An defense minister has revealed that the Ministry of Defence is currently looking into the possible threats posed by Chinese-made vehicles, and personnel have been instructed to avoid talking about secret matters in all vehicles.

Security Advice for MoD Personnel

During a recently aired appearance on LBC, a defence minister commented on claims that Ministry of Defence staff have been told not to discuss secret information while travelling in China-made vehicles.

He stated that the ministry is “looking into” cars from China within its fleets, but noted that safety is a issue in every contemporary cars.

We have a fleet of thousands of cars in the MoD and those vehicles represent a very small number.
However whether you’re traveling in a Chinese car or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our staff is not to plug MoD devices into their vehicle, to avoid having conversations at a secret classification in any vehicle, due to the increasing threats of surveillance that exist in every single vehicle, to only have those secret talks in protected areas. This is a prudent and sensible thing for everyone concerned about safety.

After it was put to him that it would be prudent for the ministry to stop using every Chinese vehicles, Pollard replied: ‘That’s precisely what we’re investigating at the moment.”

Wider Security Background

This announcement comes as reports from Scandinavian countries have alerted the United Kingdom to the presence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese-made electric buses, which could allow the Chinese government to switch off buses and bring chaos to public transit.

Additionally, a Russian spy ship has been shining laser beams at Royal Air Force aircrew, labeled a “highly dangerous” act by government representatives.

The broader security environment underscores the significance of strong measures and vigilance in every areas of official activities, from vehicle usage to communication habits.
